Handmade Wooden Ukrainian Pysanky Eggs
Each exquisite wooden egg is handcrafted and hand-painted in western Ukraine, in the heart of the picturesque Carpathian Mountains. Designed to resemble a standard chicken egg in size, these unique pieces of art measure approximately 2.5 inches (65 mm) in height and 1.8 inches (46 mm) in diameter.
The eggs are in brand-new condition, making them perfect for collectors, Easter decorations, or meaningful gifts.
The Story Behind Pysanka
Pysanka—traditional Ukrainian Easter eggs—have a rich history dating back to pre-Christian times. Originally, they symbolized life, fertility, and the renewal of spring. With the spread of Christianity, their meaning evolved to reflect themes of Christ’s death and resurrection. Throughout history, these eggs have remained an enduring symbol of Ukrainian heritage, even serving as a quiet expression of national pride during the Soviet era.
Similar to the Polish Pisanki and Czech Kraslice, Ukrainian Pysanky are intricately decorated with symbolic patterns and vibrant colors, each carrying its own unique meaning. Whether used as an Easter decoration or a cultural keepsake, these handcrafted eggs bring a touch of history and tradition into any home.
